About Us

The Function Of The Conservation District
To take available technical, financial, and educational resources, whatever their source, and focus of coordinate them so that they meet the needs of the local land user for conservation of soil, water, and related resources.

Our Mission
Conservation district officials serve on a multi member board that establishes and implements programs to protect and conserve soil, water, energy and other renewable resources on local, non-federal lands.

Duties
  • Identify local conservation needs, and develop, implement and evaluate programs to meet them.
  • Educate and inform landowners and operators, general public, and local, state and federal legislators on conservation issues and programs.
  • Supervise other volunteers and paid staff working with the district; coordinate with cooperating agency personnel.
  • Administer the district by delegating tasks through a structure of board officers and members, committees, and others; raise and budget district funds and report on activities to the public.
  • Coordinate assistance and funding from federal, state and local government; district associations; and private groups.

  • Erosion control measures to reduce sediment runoff.

  • Time Required
    Attend 12 regularly scheduled board meetings, as well as committee, special meetings, and events for an average of approximately 30 days/year Get Involved

    I am Farm/Rancher and water well driller. I was born and raised on a farm and worked in the water well industry off and on my entire life. I am dedicated to learning everyday not only to improving myself but also the community around me. This is the land and community that God has given us, and I am striving to improve it and leave it in better shape for the future generations.

    I`m a 4th-generation cattle rancher and raised my three boys in House, New Mexico. My mission is to initiate and promote good conservation land management practices by working closely with our local Soil and Water Conservation District.

    I`m the District Manager for the Southwest Quay Soil and Water Conservation District here in New Mexico. I work closely with local landowners and organizations to support conservation efforts and promote sustainable land management practices. I`m a lifelong resident of Melrose and a proud graduate of Melrose High School. My husband, David, and I are committed to our community and to preserving the natural resources that make this region so special.

    I am Bobby Lee and was born in Clovis NM and raised in McAlister NM. I am a 5th generation farmer and rancher and 4th generation NM horse racing breeder. Ive been married to the sexiest woman alive for 12 years and have 2 boys and 2 girls ranging from 9 years old to 1 year old. We all love getting to work together and are building a legacy of farming, ranching, and raising race horses that we hope will bless our family for years to come.

    I’m Jovani Armendariz. I am a veterinarian and a fourth generation rancher who grew up in Eastern New Mexico. I live in Quay County with my wife and two daughters where we farm and raise sheep and cattle. I have a passion for animal health and land management and am committed to serving the farmers and ranchers in my community.
